I purchased several vests for the department that I supervise at work. Size Large will fit most all regular sized people, even over light jackets or sweaters.

I am NOT regular sized; I am 5'10", 320lbs. I usually wear a 3x or 4x shirt, depending on brand and style. I purchased a 4x safety vest for myself, and it is essentially too large; the sleeves stick out at the shoulder a good 2 1/2 inches. 3x would have been a more suitable size for me.
